Awesome video. My 93 died this am – exactly same symptoms – turn key and clock and hvac controls went out but nothing else. Thanks to your video I know its the starter and how to change it out.

YEA THANKS , FOR THAT ONE I FOUND OUT MY TRUCK WAS CUSTOMIZED AND HAVE TO NOW REPLACE THE FLEXPLATE BECAUSE TEETH BROKE OFF. AND YEA I BROKE MY CABLE JUST LIKE YOU DID IN THE VIDEO. SO OTHERS BEWARE WHEN TAKING THE STARTER OFF BE CAREFUL DANGLING ON THE WIRE. THANKS GREAT VIDEO THOUGH,

ShnitzlHaus says:

no shims were needed, my old one was not shimmed either.
if someone had customized your truck or your starter was not a direct cross over I could see shims being needed.

YTUBEMADEMEDOIT says:

I DID NOT SEE YOU SHIM THE STARTER DID YOU HAVE TO REDO THIS AFTER YOU PUT THIS ON , I HAD TO AND IM ON MY THIRD TRY BECAUSE IT STARTED TO GRIND OVER TIME .

Baron Bigler says:

Very good. Well done!

ShnitzlHaus says:

thats very true, I dont mind working under it because everything is accessible, dirt? I get flakes of rust in my eyes! luckily I wear contact lenses so its a shield haha.

EdzGarage says:

At least there’s room to work under there.
I usually get ALL the dirt from under the vehicle in my eyes when working under it lol

richard smith says:

looks like you need somebody to hold the camera for u

Sears Suburban Backyard Tractor Club says:

Wish they made a modern 5.7 instead of the 5.3 today. Friend’s 94 went 340,000 miles before he sold it. (Still running)
